Lift Basel is connecting innovators from Life Sciences and information technology

For one and a half days, experts, innovators, opinion leaders and technology enthusiasts will come together in lectures and workshops in the market hall to exchange their views about what innovations and business potential the digital technologies will contribute to Life Sciences and healthcare.

Particular focus will be given to the following topics and issues over the course of six sessions:

Big Data and Beyond: How can we deal with the flood of data and can the visualisation of data be helpful? Which guidelines should we comply with - and which policies should be discarded?

Shaping Healthy Habits: What can we learn about the new „iPhone psychology" from game theory and behavioural economics?

Collaboration – Faster, broader and more open: How can biologists collaborate with hackers, what can designers learn from medical experts and what can strategy specialists learn from science fiction writers?

From Life Science to Life Design: Synthetic biology, the design and creation of biological systems is an increasingly important tool - but it also raises questions about safety and ethics.

The Man-Machine Interface - Computer-brain connections, intelligent implants and social robots: What is it like to have an extra sense of magnetism? Or how should we deal with a robot that looks after a sick child?

Future Business Models: Who exactly will pay for all this? Is crowdfunding a solution? And finally: How long will our healthcare system exist in its present form and what would the alternatives be?

Lift Basel is funded and supported under the patronage of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Basel-Stadt and the Association of Regio Basiliensis. The presenting partner of Lift Basel is i-net innovation networks switzerland, the joint promotion of innovation of the Swiss cantons in the north-west.
