On Thursday April 26th the moment arrived: The first company moved in and the City Hub started its operation. The City Hub Basel is a cargo-handling platform at the Wolf cargo train station and offers logistics companies the option to bundle their deliveries at the periphery of the city and to transport their goods on the last mile by city-compatible modes of transportations such as by cargo bike or by an electric delivery car to their destinations.
The City Hub Basel is part of the citywide cargo transportation plan of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, within this framework the canton, together with various business partners and associations, looks for innovative and future-oriented solutions to plan commercial deliveries in the city transportation system in an economical, efficient and low-emission way. The project partners exchange ideas and evaluate new projects on a regular basis.
These solutions are indispensable in considering current and future city developments, and innovative approaches gain traction in the logistics sector. The amount of goods to be transported is growing, expectations for a most ecological process are rising, and new ways of collaboration and sharing become more important in the logistics sector. With the help of this cargo transportation concept the delivery system in the city will stay current and keep its high standard.
These platforms are open to all businesses. For more information please contact us.
