Registering with RAV

When unemployment is looming, those affected usually have many questions. A prerequisite for successful collaboration is comprehensive information about the most important points. For this purpose, please read the brochure "Unemployed? What you can expect from us and what you need to know as a jobseeker" («Arbeitslos? Was Sie von uns erwarten können und als Stellensuchende/-r wissen müssen», in German only).
Register with the Regional Employment Centre (RAV) as early as possible, but no later than the first day of your unemployment.
Personal registration
You can register in person at the information desk at Hochstrasse 37. There you will receive the necessary documents from us and be informed about the further procedure. Please bring an official identity document with you – foreign nationals should please bring their permanent residence permit or their foreign national identity card. We also need your health insurance card.
Online registration
To register online with the Regional Employment Centre (RAV), please visit www.job-room.ch/aav (in German only).
After your initial registration, you will receive further documents from us, which you should please complete in full and return to us within 24 hours by email to rav.awa@bs.ch. Your registration is only complete once these documents have been submitted.
Please note :
- You can register online if you live in Switzerland - people living outside Switzerland should please register in person at Hochstrasse 37.
By registering online, you confirm that
- your contact details and information on the registration form are correct and should be entered into the public employment service's information system.
- that you can be reached by the responsible office within a day using these contact details. Please inform RAV immediately of any changes.
- you have read and understood the leaflet «Duties of jobseekers» (in German only)
