At Stücki Park, the future is around the corner

In late August 2018, Basel’s integrated business center Stücki Park was the site of an illustrious groundbreaking ceremony for its new office and laboratory spaces, launching the construction of four new buildings with office and lab infrastructure in two stages. The new development at Hochbergerstrasse 60 expands the existing facilities to a total footprint of 60'000 m2 and increases capacity by an additional 1’700 jobs.

«The new development is of particular interest to the Life Sciences sector. Already today, Stücki Park has well-known industry players such as Medartis, Boehringer Ingelheim and Lonza among its tenants», says Christian Mutschler, Director of Stücki Park Management. And right next door in the same building complex, the «Technologiepark Basel» and the «Basel Inkubator» are supporting start-ups from the region with developing their businesses. Value Creation, Jobs and Innovation were among the key words engraved in paving stones that were inserted and cemented into the foundations during groundbreaking ceremony. «By 2023 we will have created a new economic epicenter for Basel. By then, more than 4'000 people will be working on the site», Mutschler commented on the exciting news.

A destination for innovation, experience, health, fine dining and shopping

Along with a significant expansion of office, lab and business facilities, the site’s owner, Swiss Prime Site Immobilien, announced a reduction of retail space from originally 33’000 m2 to approximately 10’000 m2 at the Hochbergerstrasse 70 building complex, just opposite from the new project. Customers, employees and residents will be able to enjoy an exciting mix of everyday life amenities such as fine dining, recreational experiences and entertainment. The goal is to establish an interesting and diverse balance of tenants resulting in a lively, dynamic and attractive location. Meanwhile, construction continues at great pace in the adjacent «Stücki Park Village». As the name suggests, the project aims at building a small village populated by sophisticated service providers and businesses as well as medical offices. The Village’s extraordinary architecture clearly stands out: Lots of wood and warm colors create a pleasant, welcoming ambience. «The Village will be one large zone for encounters of everyone working on-site or living in the neighborhood. It will also play an important role to establish the Stücki Park as a sought-after workplace that attracts great Life Sciences talent to local companies», explained Gianfranco Basso, Head Construction of Swiss Prime Site. The opening of the «Village in Stücki Park» will take place by the end of October 2018.

Synergies through accessibility

All building complexes on site will be easily accessible and interconnected, once work at the «Stücki Park» is completed. An elevated walkway, for instance, will conveniently connect the office and laboratory buildings with the rest of the premises, thus creating logistical synergies and social dynamics.
